Frequently Asked Questions and Overheard Comments

We’ve been open since April 2022. We did not paint the inside. It used to be Nicolet Staffing, Flander’s Reality, an insurance office, and the Mint Bar. Yes, we do know that four other bookstores in town have already closed and that this appears to be a very poor business decision based on the 32 seconds you’ve invested in thinking about the bookstore business. Yes, we know they sell books at Kid’s Corner restaurant and sometimes at the library thing. Cindy and I have lived in Rhinelander for 22 years. This is the first bookstore we’ve ever run. Yes, we kind of know what we’re doing, but learning every day. We do take credit or debit cards and we also give them back. It's ok if you use a credit card. Yes they do fee credit card transactions, but as long as the customer is happy . . . 

The price is written on the top corner of the first page of the book.  Unless that page is too dark; then you can find the price on the next page.  If you forget, there are signs in every room letting you know where you can find the priced of the book.

Yes, we do take donations if the books are in good condition and what we need. Yes, we do buy books, but since we sell books cheap we buy them even cheaper and I am not obligated to buy anything you bring in. Although I won’t give you much money, I will give you more than anyone else around here will, unless you want to try selling them at your garage sale, which you are free to do.

It depends on who you ask. If you ask Cindy, she will say “Yes” and very happily write down what book you want, what your name and number is, and then immediately spend 36 minutes looking on the internet to find the best deal for that book and then purchase it and have it shipped to us and then never hear from you again. If you ask Jeff, he will say, “Uh, not really.”

Pretty much all kinds. If you ask us if we have a certain book in stock, we probably do about 22% of the time. If you ask us if we have a certain author in stock, we probably do about 48% of the time. Cindy knows the fiction section better and Jeff knows the non-fiction better. If we have it, it should be in this general area (said while pointing to a general area of shelves). We do not have a list of what’s in stock because it turns over pretty quick. The list of our stock is kept in our heads. The more information you can give us about what the book looks like, is about, and who the author is will help us find it if we have it.
